I proudly post my medal. I not only finished my project -- I knit 1/2 of it twice (having made it much too big the first time), AND more importantly, got it in the mail to it's intended recipient before the closing ceremonies. Indeed, were the postal service serving on Sundays, she'd have had it in her hot little hands by closing ceremonies!
We would now return you to your regularly scheduled knitting report, but .. there have been obstacles:
First, while I can often knit with child in lap, and frequently knit with cat in lap, I find it all but impossible to knit with both in lap simultaneously.
See that blob in my right hand?
That's the insert to make Dan's sweater big enough around the front. I'm making no progress whatsoever. But the kitty and the kid (who we often call Kitty) are sure cute together, aren't they??
The other obstacle is the raging startitis that has stricken me so hard I can't even choose what to start!
The following projects/ideas have been screaming my name:
1) the Thistle Coat that would have been my Olympic Knitting had my wrists not gone on strike. The yarn ((which ranges between blue and pink) is in the bag by my knitting chair. The swatch is lovely.
2) A baby sweater using Sock Yarn, from a pattern from my LYS. I have the yarn, pastel Fortissima Cotton Colori that is more pink than not, and have been swatching a bit today.
3) Socks or ?? from the Gorgeous Reds/with Purples and Grays Koigu about which I posted not long ago. (and yes, I have the yarn unless I need more than 525 yards...)
4) Socks for DH, who really does deserve a pair -- yarn in stash in a sort of russet color.
5) Socks for DD, who has asked, and whose feet have almost certainly slowed down enough that it's safe to knit for them. There's a great shade of pinky lavender wool in the stash and another bit of bright with lots of pink, or maybe the fuschia Wildflower DK....
6) Rogue, which has been screaming at me for months. I have some yarn options, and have swatched, but would likely be buying new (some is in Yarn Jail at the LYS), I've been thinking either deep green, or blood red or maybe aubergine///
7) Keppler, for which I haven't swatched really, but for which I've started swatching ...the deep green yarn (which I also have in lilac) to swatch is on the needle but I screwed up the cable really badly in the LYS where I was distracted and so.....
8) Marian, which I'd really like to cross breed with Keppler...
9) Odessa
10) The beaded top from LC's book, the magenta yarn and beads for which are sitting in the basket by my knitting chair...
11) Socks for ME in that wonderful pink yarn I got from from my sock buddy (in much loved by me, even if parted with by her) yarn...
12) A cute hat for J, who coveted C's hat
13) a new shawl for C, who is trying to steal my comfy shawl....
or. any of the other ideas that pop into my head....
Or do I go back to the beaded shawl for ME ME ME.
Yes, I know, finish Dan's sweater and his sister's shawl, and the Pre-Columbian Shawl... but they're GREEN and BLUE and PURPLE, and I've yielded to temptation, and have joined Project Spectrum so I should be knitting with PINKS and REDS. This should make it easier to choose among those eager to be started patterns.... except that there seem to be a veritable plethora of pinks and reds to choose from up there.
I'd better get it in gear though, as I'll have a lot of time in the car or sitting this weekend ... we're heading up to see LJ play volleyball: that's 2.5 hours in the car, at least an hour at the game, more hours in the car to our friend's house, car time to go downtown for dinner, car time back... car time home again in the morning.... I could practically finish the baby sweater in that time.... I have to take SOMETHING on the trip!
Or... i could take needles and one ball of everything and just swatch my way through the weekend...

So is that the polite version of the medal (ha ha ha)... and love the pic of you under cat, kid and with a stunned look on your face. Will enjoy finding out what you took with you and what you ended up knitting.

I'm not commenting on this post per-se, except to whine about not seeing an updated blog entry for today (3/6)... ;)
It is however to tell you this: you may have already gone here:

I came over to see what I'd been tagged for and I can't find it. Which means I'm either very confused or very tired or you haven't posted them yet. *g*
