I know,
I know...
I already said that I is for Illusion.
But I is also for Iris.
I'd show you the iris plants that grow in my back yard -- but they've not shown themselves yet. I'll have to try to find some out and about ...
But the Iris I'm really talking about is this one:
This is my daughter's iris.
Oddly enough, this is her other iris.
Pictures taken within moments of each other. Ain't it weird what angles can do to colors?
The iris controls the amount of light that gets into your eye. It's a magical thing, using lots of tiny muscles to open and close the aperture that is the pupil of our eye. Because we have irises, we can see in both bright light and dim light.... and everything in between.
And the color, texture, and patterns of each person's iris is unique .. just like fingerprints!
I've been trying for quite a while to persuade my camera to cough up a GOOD picture of someone's iris (I long ago gave up on getting one of my OWN iris). Poor thing was never meant to do this kind of work, but it's been trying. Of course, I'm sure that the camera that took THIS picture is much more expensive than mine:
As, no doubt, was the one that took this one:
But the one that took this one is likely to have cost more than my car:
Either way, I'm glad someone out there has taken such cool pictures of irises, and then slapped them up on the Internet for us all to find.
So... the illusion of my last post is dispelled....

Ohhh, that last iris is incredible. I am sure my irises look just like that ...
