Quite some time ago, I joined the Slog Along KAL because I anticipated that I'd be launching into Bohus knitting. I even blogged some slogging there.
Then I backed off into knitting that did NOT qualify as slogging, and I've been silent there.
Then I bought a kit to knit Mermaid (which I suspected would be a great slog along candidate, what with the miles of garter, interrupted occasionally by short rows in garter).
Well, swatching with Mermaid has proven much more effective than swatching for Bohus. Mermaid is officially On The Needles now.
I've worked the 181 rows of I-cord, and have worked a good dozen rows of garter for the first set of instructions. Now, of course, I'm second guessing myself. Already.
Did I try on the Small? or the Medium at Stitches???
I don't remember.
'Cause whichever it was, it fit perfectly. And I want to knit THAT size. I'm working on the medium... but could convert to a slightly long small pretty easily as long as I do that within the next dozen rows of knitting.
So.... Elizabeth? Alyse? anyone who was a the Yarn Barn Booth and noticed? What size did they have on display???
Freaking out quietly now. Perhaps I'll go back to focusing heavily on Chrysopolis instead.
Meanwhile, yesterday was enlightening.
My darling daughters had the day off of school -- it was one of those "Institute Days" during which all the teachers allegedly go learn something. I'm sure they do, but they never tell us what it is...
Anyway, C decided that she wanted to spend the day visiting her old school (the horribly expensive one we pulled her out of, partly because we can't afford it anymore, and partly because she really wasn't happy there). Yep... she took her day off school, and went to school. It was interesting to compare what they're doing in the old school with the new one. Same stuff, just slightly more complex versions.
