Time again for the Mermaid report. This may actually be the last Monday report... Heck, if I'd been more focused on pattern reading, it might actually have included pictures of a finished garment. But... I'm a scatter brain. I knit while watching TV, or listening to kids yammer, or riding in cars, or.... stuff. This means that sometimes, I do stupid things.
As you may recall, I was flush with my "success" on the first sleeve, and had taken it, the body, and the nascent sleeve two along for The Band Trip. I was deluding myself that I'd finish it while there.
Once my stomach settled, I began merrily knitting my way through the first half of sleeve two. I got through the increases, and realized that before I started the lovely contrast stripe, I had to knit five ridges without shaping.
??
Uh oh...
I think I may have missed that last time....
Yep. I had thought it looked odd, but I trusted what I thought were the instructions. I really must read more carefully! So, once I arrived at my aunt's house, I ripped all the way back through the stripe, and slid sleeve one onto the needle with sleeve two.
Last night, I finished both sleeves:
Shall we take a closer look at the correct sleeve top shaping?
That looks much more reasonable to me. I must have been really tired or distracted when I knit that first sleeve.
When it got too tired out to focus properly last night, I picked up Deep Breath for a bit instead of binding off the sleeves, but now I'm half way through binding off/seaming the first of the newly finished sleeves, and anticipate that I'll be sewing them onto the body before the evening is out!
Tomorrow? pics of deep breath and a finished Mermaid? I'm hoping so!

When I saw that first sleeve a few weeks ago, I thought it was just because of the small size. Sorry, I should've looked at the pattern more closely.
But it does look beautiful. Can't wait to see the finished jacket.

It's tomorrow. Where's the finished Mermaid? Enquiring minds...
