So.... when you go in for your annual physical, what's the first thing you and your doctor talk about?
What's the first thing your doctor looks at?
My doctor looks at my knitting..... and shows me hers. Who knew I'd need my camera in the exam room? She's making a lovely pair of socks from Cat Bordhi's new book. I'm pretty sure it was Bartholomew's Tantalizing Socks (Ravelry Link). She was knitting them out of Mirasol Hacho. Man does that stitch pattern do good things for that yarn! woof!
After we enjoyed each other's knitting, we talked about the usual things.... and did the usual things.
My blood pressure is great (99/58). My cholesterol is great. My glucose is great etc. etc. She said my blood is perfect. Whee.
Now all we need is to hear that the results of that thoroughly enjoyable (NOT) Pap smear comes back normal, and I'll be golden. Oh, and yes, my mammogram results were normal too - sickening isn't it?
We also talked about the fun I can anticipate as menopause arrives, which I assume it will sometime in the next 1-10 years. My favorite bit? I can look forward to the possibility that I'll stop having periods altogether for several months... many even... only to have them return with a normal cycle for a while.
Hmph. Once they leave, I want them to just stay gone. Sneaky buggers. Hmmph.
So... I have a clean bill of health to take out to dinner with me for my Anniversary this evening. I plan to consume wine. And a luscious chocolate laden rich high fat dessert. And then, perhaps, to go to a dance class with my beloved.

Congratulations - and best wishes for a lovely anniversary evening, and an even lovelier year of marriage to come.

Yay for good health! But you and your doc forgot to discuss the procedure that makes the Pap smear seem like a walk in the park -- the dreaded colonoscopy. It's a treat, let me tell you ;-) although certainly preferable to colon cancer.
