The deadline knitting continues ....
I'm now working as fast as I can on the stole for Crystal Palace Yarns.
It is supposed to be 70" long. Today I spent several hours concentrating on knitting it. It's become stretchy enough that I'm not exactly sure what I've got. This is the stole draped over our love seat...
Depending on how much stretch is in play when I measure, I either have 53" or 57". I've started the fourth ball of yarn. Again, with the stretch interplay when measuring -- I think one ball of yarn gets me 17"... but that should mean that I have about 55" now. I think. Maybe.
The next question though, is do I WANT a full 70"? I mean... I'm short. My "wingspan" is only... 66 -- stretched tip to tip.
The key question is: How much can I get done in the next 24 hours so that I can block it and ship it off to Crystal Palace? Any chance of finishing it tonight in a frenzy of knitting so that I can block it over night and ship it this year?? -- better see if we've lots of TV watching queued up.
I did take a break to finish up the "Holiday" Cards. This batch went out as New Years' cards. I hope I'm done. Once they were safely sealed, I returned to the yarn.
My friend Alexa (Ravelry link b/c I don't seem to have her blog url yet) came over to help with this: she told me that she'd declared her purpose today was to "force me to sit down and knit." We chortled at this. Somehow, the list of things to do keeps interrupting the actual knitting. (Like, say, the drooling indecisively over The Knitting Goddess website choosing yarn for a Seasons of Lace KAL).
While we knit, C joined me and resumed focused work on her Babushka (which I designed for her for Summer of Lace). She's made great progress today.
I consider this proof that the chart works.
Not much left to say for today... but I'm planning to expose my achievements tomorrow...

Shouldn't it be 66 inches at least then? Not that you should listen to me.
The Babushka is really nice looking. It would be perfect with my new blazer......
You're all shades of blue & green, aren't you? Sorry to hear about the murder and subsequent cannabalism. It just goes to show what a mask a pretty face is....
Happy New Year!
