Quote of
the day:
'Whatever you give a woman, she will make
greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a
house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a
meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and
enlarges what is given to her.
So, if you give her any crap, be ready to
receive a ton of shit.'
My former secretary sent that to me today. Gotta love it.
Continuing in that vein...
Give a woman some yarn and....she'll knit you a sweater ...
As you may recall, J asked for a sleeveless lace hoodie. I thought I'd all but finished, but I think she grew, so I had to rip out the thing from the shoulders to the place where I'd split for the underarms, and add a repeat of the tilting ladders to make it long enough. Now... I'm wondering why it is that a hood seems to take as long as the whole freakin' body of the sweater...
It wasn't intended as a Winter Holiday present, but it's starting to look like it will work as one.
I'm taking turns between that, and this:
That's the Weekender Stole from Crystal Palace Yarns. I'm working it in the oh so yummy Panda Silk. I want lots of Panda Silk. It's my favorite thing about this pattern (that and it's so easy it is now my mindless take along knitting).
The weekender went with me last night to hear my daughters' choir sing.
They were wonderful. C even had a sort of solo (three girls shared it -- but to be honest, I could only hear her).
It was a nice concert... and because it was actually a joint concert with all three middle schools' choirs, the stole grew quite a bit.
Tonight it will have another chance for growth: It's band concert night.

The hoodie is turning out really cute. And, it is so like a mother to hear her child's voice ringing out clearly above the others.

I love the stole. Do people ever give you a hard time for knitting at concerts? I finally had the old school trained, but this year we started at a new one. I haven't been brave enough yet to knit there. Maybe tomorrow night.

*Great* quote, beautiful daughter and pretty knitting :)

That is a great quote. The hoodie is cute! The tilting cables came out really nice. What yarn is that? It's a Law of Knitting, that the last bit takes as long as all the previous bits combined. Something like that. :)

I love the tilting ladders, but still don't quite get the whole sleeveless hoodie thing! Oh -- and except for weaving in a few ends, I believe I finished Christmas knitting this evening, so I'll be getting out my tiny beading hook again!

Hoods take longer because they aren't just hats, they're also turtlenecks. A hood is the equivalent of the back of a sweater.
That tilting ladders pattern is beautiful.
