Though I did knit a lot yesterday, I can't really show you much. It was all about one of those socks for CPY. However, I DID finagle the non-standard toe-up heel, and am now on the home-free section of the cuff....
Today, I'll likely finish the sock, because today has a lot of waiting built in. In a few minutes, we'll set forth in the lightly blowing snow, hoping that it stays lightly blowing as we travel west for about an hour. Then, we'll check in to the State's Music Educators Associations Solo & Ensemble Contest. Both girls will be performing.
The Bookworm will go first: she plays at 12:06 (don't you love the precision? Anyone think that they'll be that close after three and a half hours of performances?). We have to be there 45 minutes early for her to check in and warm up etc. After that, we kill time until Kitty plays at 2:42. I think we're likely to leave the building in search of lunch at a restaurant. But even with lunch, there will be waiting time.
And what does a knitter do with waiting time? KNIT of course.
So, I have three projects in my knitting bag for the day. The sock, of course. Laminaria. And a cowl. With any luck at all, I'll have some progress I can show you by the time the day is over.
Meanwhile, wish us luck. We need instruments that tune and stay that way, confidence that withstands a room full of strangers and judges, and musical fingers and lips that cooperate. Oh, and reeds that don't suddenly turn vengeful.

Good luck to the musicians. Jealous of the knitting time, though.

Hey, music day here in Naperville as well. I lucked out -- it was held at the junior high my twins go to, which is literally around the corner, so I merely had to shove them out the door with instruments, and then mosey on over for the flute at 9. I then got to hang with the violinist and knit until 10:30. My husband had the harder job, shuffling their younger brother in and out so he could admire his older brothers' prowess. Hope you didn't get too much of the storm down there -- been snowing on and off here all afternoon, although not with much commitment. I think the wind is blowing more around than is falling. Hope your daughters played well!

Oh, it's all over by now -- I hope it went well! And I hope the weather wasn't too bad -- we had lots of wind and blowing snow this morning, and I heard it was about the same in Springfield.
