Not so very long ago, I knit a lovely sock out of Fleece Artist Merino ...
I finished them some time in 2008.
Today, one of the heels looks like this:
This would be just barely in time ... In theory, I could do a major darning job, and save these socks. Except that before I realized this wee problem was here, the other heel did this:

Yes, the bottom of one panel does goe all the way across my chair, unblocked.

Socks of 100% merino, while lovely to knit, do not wear as well as other fibers. I knit the feet of all my socks on US#0s to help them wear better -- try that?
