Queen Mab tends to do things you didn't quite expect. And though it appears simple, this cowl takes after her in a few modest ways.
First off, it's knit from the top down. Who does that with a cowl? Queen Mab and I do that's who.
And then there's the part where I didn't even design in beads, but my test knitter felt compelled to add them. (Queen Mab just HAD to have her hand in that! How could he have known that I tend to bead everything....) Here's one of his pictures (Thank you Jeffrey!!)
And then there's that asymmetry thing going on. That's totally Mab's doing; I'm addicted to symmetry.
(Thanks. Katie)
The asymmetry starts from unequal scallops along the top edge (and they're mirrored by more asymmetrical scallops along the bottom edge.
The cowl can be worked in either DK weight or Sport or Heavy Fingering weight yarn, and the instructions provide charts for both options. The instructions also provide written instructions, for those who like words.
As always, you can buy it from the Fiber Dancers' page, or from Raverly, or.... from right here - for $6.00!
