Copyright law is full of holes - librarians deal with it in all sorts of ways, and there's tons that is open to wild interpretation. In our case, the other side (publishers) always have the big lawyers, while we, if we're lucky, have university counsel who are afraid of their own shadow.

The designer in question was one that I really liked.... until now!! I wouldn't pay a quarter for another one of their patterns!! This is just plain "I'm the bigger dog in this fight and I'm going to win!!" Little do they know that the big dog doesn't always come out on top!!! LOL
