As you may recall, I've been working on a pair of socks that I like to call Climbing Cables.
This pair of socks has been a bit of a challenge.
Part of that is the inevitable fun of designing -- you try something, you decide it doesn't work, you rip it back, you try again.
Part of it has been the not so inevitable not fun of breaking needles. Evidently, tightly knit fabric (which I prefer for socks), in combination with a twist heavy design, is not so gentle on tiny wooden needles. First, it broke one of my beloved Darned Pretty Needles,
So I grabbed a spare dpn from another set, and faked it through ..
until it broke the spare ...
My dear friend, the Divine, Though Blogless, Elizabeth, has come to the rescue. She's leant me a set of Kollage Square dpns. They're metal. With any luck the socks can't win again these.
Now I'm working on making the second sock match the brilliant design I worked out for the back of the first sock.
I'm back to knit, rip, knit, rip. I could have sworn I charted out what I'd done, but so far, I can't find the chart. I'll be charting it out THIS time that for sure.
