Swiped! from Judy (and since seen all around). So here are the answers to 38 things about me that you may or may not want to know. Think of it as me being interviewed by a lunatic. (really... wait 'til you see some of these questions. No one who knows me would ask these questions!)
1. Name one person who made you laugh last night? Dave -- the dance teacher. He suggested that an alternative to babysitters (who have been only sporadically available this fall) would be web cams in the house -- with speakers so that I could call the speakers to say ... loudly... from apparently everywhere "I saw that..."
2. What were you doing at 0800? Driving to the grocery store, having just dropped my daughters off at school.
3. What were you doing 30 minutes ago? Sizing dpns to put them away in the dpn binder
4. What happened to you in 2006? My boss cut my salary, ostensibly because I wasn't working as many hours as he thought I would be, even though I'd actually worked more hours than we'd agreed upon; I lost 10 pounds (all of which are still gone); I survived Xmas without my mother in the house-- something I've done twice now in my life (but will not be doing this year)
5. What was the last thing you said out loud? I love you, Mom
6. How many beverages did you have today? Two so far -- both coffee. Unless you count protein smoothies as beverages, in which case three.
7. What color is your hairbrush? Black.
8. What was the last thing you paid for? Groceries -- did you want a list?
9. Where were you last night? First, at the movies (Lions for Lambs) and then dancing at the bi-weekly NightClub dance that our dance instructor holds.
10. What color is your front door? Hunter Green - in contrast to the white trim and siding on the house. I didn't choose it... but I do like it quite well.
11. Where do you keep your change? Dimes, and only dimes, are in a gallon wine jug. (I filled it with pennies, cashed them in, filled it with nickels, cashed them in, and am now working on dimes). The rest of the change is in a former candy tin that looks like a row house. When it gets full, it goes to the bank.
12. What’s the weather like today? low 60's and sunny.
13. What’s the best ice-cream flavor? Dark chocolate. (Good Coffee (Hagen Dasz works) ,Chunky Monkey, Daquiri Ice and Mint Chocolate Chip are up there near the top, but Belgian Dark Chocolate is the best)
14. What excites you? Knitting! Fiber! Friends! Dancing! Music! (did I mention yarn?). Also, the ocean (which relaxes me while it excites me; the ocean is magic that way).
15. Do you want to cut your hair? No. But it could stand a little trim.
16. Are you over the age of 25? Way
17. Do you talk a lot? Sometimes too much. Other times not enough.
18. Do you watch the O.C.? Never have.
19. Do you know anyone named Steven? I have done, but do not know know anyone named Steven (or Stephen for that matter).
20. Do you make up your own words? Of course! What would be the fun in using the same old ones all the time?
21. Are you a jealous person? Not usually. But sometimes. I try to get over it quickly. I am, however, an envious person. Also a covetous one.
22. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘A’. Alyse.
23. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘K’. Katie
24. Who’s the first person on your received call list? Home: The Divine though Blogless Elizabeth; Cell: DH.
25. What does the last text message you received say? I don't get text messages on my phone... the last line of the last IM message I received said: "and constantly"
26. Do you chew on your straw? No. But I eat my ice.
27. Do you have curly hair? Mostly yes. Except for that one recalcitrant straight lock.
28. Where’s the next place you’re going to? Probably to pick the kids up from school, though possibly to get my oil changed.
29. Who’s the rudest person in your life? I ousted him. I can't think of anyone in my life right now who is rude..... well, okay, the tweens are rude every now and then. But that's part of being a tween. My job as their mom is to point it out and persuade them to behave differently.
30. What was the last thing you ate? Ate, as in chewed? A dove dark Promise. Ate as in consumed something nutritious? A Bolthouse Farms Chai Latte Protein drink.
31. Will you get married in the future? I don’t plan on being Unmarried in the near future. So... unless something drastic changes, not until I've been widowed .....
32. What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the past 2 weeks? Hmm.. I've seen two movies in the theatre (Lions for Lambs and Michael Clayton) and one on TV (Along Came A Spider). I liked them all for different reasons. I think the best one was Lions for Lambs -- because it makes you think.
33. Is there anyone you like right now? I like lots of people. I even like all of the members of my family today. We don't have time for me to list all of the people I like.
34. When was the last time you did the dishes? This morning. I got to re-wash all of the pots and pans that the denizens had not cleaned adequately (okay for some... at all) before they put them in the clean dish drainer... I do not like scullery duty.
35. Are you currently depressed? No.
36. Did you cry today? No. Not planning to either.
37. Why did you answer and post this? Because I have this thing about filling out questionnaires, and know that memes like this are great blog fodder when there's nothing much else to say. Today involved cleaning the living room, vacuuming, sorting stuff (including dpns) and frogging socks b/c I decided I didn't like the heel.... not much blog fodder in THAT.
38. Tag 5 people who would do this survey. I’m tagging - you! If you have a blog, and you're reading this ... consider yourself tagged! (Now... blog back, and leave me a comment to let me know you did. I'll enter your name in a drawing for a wee prize).
And for a bonus... this quiz says that I'm 63% Dixie! Makes sense to me. My mama and my papa were raised in New Orleans (my grandparents were from Texas and Louisiana), so I've had a southern upbringing even if I've lived in the Midwest for most of my life.
So, y'all get right on that meme answering, y'hear?
Thanks -- I have no significant knitting to discuss today, but now I have a meme to post! ;-)

Okay, I did it. As I have nothing exciting to blog about this week, I consider these questions a cosmic gift.
