I have to respond to this. That form letter sidesteps the intention of the bill, which is to create a structure whereby teachers may more easily be dismissed, thus undermining collective bargaining agreements. The idea that student performance is so directly and uniquely tied to teacher performance is basically nonsense, and there is a great deal of research that makes this clear.

Where in this letter does the writer indicate how the administrative system is going to change itself in order to support and guide teacher's efforts in the new system? If the supervisory and administrative divisions of the system aren't also held directly accountable for student performance in the same way they are suggesting teachers should be, then this system is just another gimmick. Student success depends on the system as a whole, and to publically create teachers as scapegoats is cynical and does nothing for students.
